Renton police witnessed a vehicle driving erratically near Northeast 3rd and Bronson Way Northeast.

The incident was reported around 9:40 a.m. Thursday.

According to a Facebook post Thursday, while officers tried to catch up to the vehicle, they lost sight out it.

Officers were patrolling a neighborhood when they saw the suspect vehicle had been involved in an accident.

The post stated the suspect vehicle had reportedly hit a resident backing out of their driveway which in turn caused the suspect’s vehicle to hit a parked car.

The driver backing out of their driveway was not injured.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to the hospital for possible broken bones, the post stated.

Renton police said “drugs may have been a factor.”

The suspect driver is not the registered owner of the vehicle. The police department’s Facebook post stated, it is possible this is an unreported stolen vehicle.

At the time of the updated Facebook post, police were unable to confirm if the vehicle was stolen.

The Renton police responded to a Facebook comment around 10:30 a.m. and reported the vehicle was stolen. They made contact with the registered owner.

Around 10:30 a.m. the road was reopened to traffic.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
