Two teams remain in the hunt for the 2A state title.<\/p>\n

And there’s a chance they could meet in the championship game Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Renton Indians and Liberty Patriots boys basketball teams won its regionals games last weekend to punch its ticket to the state tournament.<\/p>\n

The Indians beat Clover Park 58-49 and Liberty won over West Valley of Spokane 60-55.<\/p>\n

Liberty<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the Patriots win Feb. 24 the Patriots were scheduled to face Mountlake Terrace Wednesday in a loser out game.<\/p>\n

Liberty won 64-48 and moved on to the second round of state.<\/p>\n

The boys are set to play Foss at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at the SunDome in Yakima.<\/p>\n

The boys were crowned district champions following the District 1\/2 tournament mid-February.<\/p>\n

Liberty went undefeated beating Sammamish 66-38 Feb. 10 and Anacortes 57-55 in the semifinals Feb. 13.<\/p>\n

The boys faced Lynden in the finals Feb. 17 and won by four, 68-64.<\/p>\n

Renton <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Indians were scheduled to play Pullman Wednesday in Yakima in a loser out game.<\/p>\n

Renton won 46-38, advancing to the next round. The boys are scheduled to play Mark Morris at 3:45 p.m. today, Thursday, March 1 in Yakima.<\/p>\n

The boys finished in fourth place in the West Central District tournament.<\/p>\n

Renton skipped the first round on a bye and hosted Olympic Feb. 10. The Indians won 69-49, advancing to the districts semifinals.<\/p>\n

The Indians faced North Kitsap Feb. 15 and lost 73-66.<\/p>\n

But its season wasn’t over yet.<\/p>\n

Renton faced Foss in a seeding game and lost that match up 82-61.<\/p>\n

Lindbergh <\/strong><\/p>\n

Also making a run in postseason play were the Lindbergh Eagles boys basketball team.<\/p>\n

The boys started the districts tournament losing by one, 53-52 to Franklin Pierce.<\/p>\n

The loss didn’t end Lindbergh’s season, the boys advanced to a loser out game where it faced Port Angeles.<\/p>\n

The Eagles lost that game 67-59, ending its 2017-2018 season.<\/p>\n

Girls Basketball <\/strong><\/p>\n

Both the Patriots and Indians girls basketball teams advanced to the postseason.<\/p>\n

Its seasons ended last weekend when both lost in regionals.<\/p>\n

Liberty<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Patriots fell 59-41 to Black Hills Feb. 23 in regionals.<\/p>\n

The girls finished districts in fourth place.<\/p>\n

Liberty started the tournament Feb. 7 by beating Blaine 54-45 and moved on to face Lynden.<\/p>\n

The girls lost 56-38 advancing to a loser out game against Sedro-Woolley.<\/p>\n

The Patriots won that Feb. 12 match up 77-50 advancing to yet again another loser out game.<\/p>\n

The girls beat Cedarcrest 47-29, keeping its season alive.<\/p>\n

The win Feb. 14 advanced the girls to a seeding game and a trip to regionals.<\/p>\n

Liberty once again faced Lynden in the seeding game and lost 46-30.<\/p>\n

Renton <\/strong><\/p>\n

Ending its season Saturday, the girls lost 52-42 to North Kitsap in regionals.<\/p>\n

Taking fifth place in the districts tournament, the Indians started the tournament with a bye.<\/p>\n

The girls faced North Kitsap in the second round and lost 51-48.<\/p>\n

In a loser out game Feb. 13, the girls beat Olympic 43-39 advancing to another loser out game.<\/p>\n

The girls continued its winning ways and beat Foster 34-23.<\/p>\n

The win moved the girls to its final game of districts where it beat Kingston 33-28.<\/p>\n

Hazen <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Highlanders girls basketball team continued its season two games into the West Central\/Southwest 4A district tournament.<\/p>\n

The girls started round one losing by four in overtime, 45-41 to Camas.<\/p>\n

The loss advanced the girls to a loser out game Feb. 10 against league opponent Tahoma.<\/p>\n

Hazen’s season ended by losing to the Bears by one, 37-36.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
