June 2, 1945 - September 23, 2023

David Lawrence, 78, of Renton, WA, passed away on September 23rd, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born in Erie Pennsylvania to Homer and Helen Lawrence. After High School he joined the Air Force where he remained in active duty until 1966.

Upon leaving the Military, he pursued a career with Boeing which brought him to the Pacific Northwest. While working at Boeing he met and married Rennie and had 3 boys. His career at Boeing was short, as he ultimately left to pursue his dream of becoming a Fire Fighter, where he worked for 35 years before retiring on January 15th, 2007, as Assistant Fire Chief.

Through the years David’s family grew, as he acquired 3 bonus kids, and married Cheryl (Merrill) Lawrence. They spent their years living on Whidbey Island, hosting gatherings for friends and family and traveling as much as possible. He lost Cheryl to cancer in 2013. David’s most recent years were spent with Jeanne Larson. She became his best friend, shared her family with him, and together they shared their love of traveling and the beach.

David’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He will be most remembered for the love he shared with all of us.

Preceded in death by his parents; Homer and Helen, his wife; Cheryl, siblings; Penny (Smitti) and Will. David is survived by his brother; Jim (Gloria), sister-in-law, Bev, children; Brent, LaRue, and Eric, Stepchildren; Kathy, Kanon, and Shane, many loving grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 28, 2023.

Remembrances may be made in David Lawrence’s name to Fred Hutch Cancer Center.
