Call for artists for downtown mural

Artists must make submissions by Feb. 5.

The Renton Downtown Partnership (RDP) is seeking artists interested in creating a large mural in downtown Renton. All artists, especially those living or working in Renton and the greater Seattle area, are open to apply by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5.

Located on a prominent building on Burnett Avenue and 3rd Street, the size of the mural will be determined during the design selection process. According to the Renton Downtown website, the design of the mural “should relate to diversity and bringing cultures together, in recognition of the multicultural community that Renton has become and as Downtown’s role as the city’s central gathering place.”

Artist selection and contracting will take place during the month of February with conceptual design approval from March to April. Design refinement and preparation will take place between May and June, and the mural painting is scheduled to take place during summer 2024.

Submissions must be made via email to rdp@rentondowntown.com. No responses will be accepted after 5 p.m. Feb. 5. Any inquiries about this request for interest should be sent to the same email address no later than Jan. 31, 2024.
