Injury shooting

Renton police officers were dispatched at approximately 1:50 a.m. May 10 to sounds of an illegal discharge near 495 Renton Center Way Southwest. Multiple callers reported hearing gunshots. Officers located a total of 56 shell casings on Rainier Avenue South between South 4th Place and South 7th Street.

As Renton police collected evidence, the Washington State Patrol advised they located a victim of the shooting near Interurban in Tukwila. The victim, a woman, stated an unknown suspect started firing at her as she was driving. She was unable to provide any further information, according to the department. First responders transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her arm. Investigation into the incident continues, according to the department.

Shooting

Renton police were dispatched at approximately 2:58 p.m. May 4 to a shooting near Southwest Sunset Boulevard and Earlington Avenue. Multiple callers dialed 911, with at least one caller stating an association between the suspects and a red vehicle that left the scene eastbound. Police located a singular victim, a “likely unintended motorist” driving his vehicle eastbound on Southwest Sunset Boulevard when he realized that his back window had been shot. He did not know who shot at him, according to the department. The Renton Police Department’s investigations team have taken over the case.

Armed carjacking

Renton police were dispatched at approximately 2:25 p.m. May 2 to an armed carjacking that had just occurred in the 200 block of Rainier Avenue South. According to the department, the victim was struck in the face with a gun in the incident. Officers responded and checked the area, locating the suspect vehicle nearby. A pursuit of the suspect vehicle was authorized and the suspect crashed into a pole as he fled a short distance away in front of Renton High School. Police arrested the suspect and recovered a gun from the front driver’s seat. Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for robbery in the first degree.

Business robbed

Renton police were dispatched at approximately 8:02 p.m. May 12 to an armed robbery in-progress. According to the department, the incident occurred at a business in the 300 block of Duvall Avenue Northeast. The caller reported that two men with guns were robbing her store and she was hiding nearby. According to the department, one person inside the location was assaulted and the suspect managed to take a lockbox of money from the wall. According to the department, the business suffered an estimated loss of $11,000 in cash and $30,000 in checks. Police initiated a track that was unsuccessful. The department’s investigations team will take over the case.

Non-injury shooting

Renton police were dispatched at approximately 1:45 a.m. May 12 to a non-injury shooting in the 4000 block of Northeast 4th Street. According to the department, police interviewed the reporting party who stated he was parked in the far east entry of nearby apartments and noticed a dark cherry red sedan coming and going multiple times through the evening.

The reporting party stated he never had any individual communication with them. The reporting party was asleep in his vehicle when he heard a gunshot and he could see the same vehicle driving away slowly. The victim did not see the gun or who shot the gun, according to the department. After the vehicle left the area, the victim drove to a nearby business and called the police. Officers noted the victim’s vehicle received a single bullet round through the driver’s side headlight that struck the radiator. The department’s investigations team has taken over investigation of the incident.
