March 21

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee, camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 Northeast 12th Street).

State of the City at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center: Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone’s second State of the City address is set for 6 p.m. All Renton residents are invited to attend. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. with a serving of light refreshments. The performing arts center is located at 400 South 2nd Street. Tickets to the address are free, but registration is required. March 22

Paint ‘N Pour: Mocktails at Renton Community Center: The final city painting event of this month, budding artists will be guided by a talented instructor to create some art — all while enjoying some tasty mocktails. This event will be from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. All supplies are included and registration is $45. Register at rentonwa.gov/register with the code #19085.

March 23

Holi -Renton Festival of Color at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy the city’s first Festival of Color in partnership with Voice of Planet. Enjoy a DJ, food trucks, vendors and community. All colors will be provided to attendees. This is a free event but reservations are required online. Register through a link found at rentonwa.gov/

Northwest Associated Arts 40th Anniversary Ruby Showcase with Northwest Symphony Orchestra at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center: This music performance will be at 7:30 p.m. with tickets set at $25. Free Museum Day at the Renton History Museum: Enjoy the wonders of the past with free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free museum days are every first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month.

April 9

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 Business Meeting: The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall, 3224 NE 12th Street, in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower. All veterans welcome. Most vets eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans and has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans, and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join us, area vets.

The Renton News & Umpqua Bank presents Fem Allies In Business (F.A.B.) at Umpqua Bank: A professional women’s networking group, this event is held every second Thursday of the month and is a free event that includes light breakfast, tea and coffee, time for mingling and two guest speakers. The event is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at 333 Southwest 7th Street in Renton.

April 14

Dragon Dash 5K/10K Fun Run & Walk beneath Erasmus on Wells Avenue: Celebrate the birthday of Erasmus the rooftop dragon with the second annual Dragon Dash. Open to competitive runners, fun runners, walkers, and families. Check-in will be 8 a.m. and the race will begin at 9 a.m. The starting line will begin beneath the Erasmus statue on Wells Avenue between Macadon’s and Common Ground and the finish line will be at the Henry Moses Aquatic Center. After the run, venture through the Renton Arts Commission’s Ren Fair in downtown Renton. Register at rentonwa.gov/dragonregister.

Project Be Free presents Family Resource Night at VFW Post 1263: From 3-7 p.m., get connected with non-profits and organizations throughout Renton and south King County that provide counseling, legal support, support groups, youth mentorship and more. Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
