Aug. 3

Summer Concerts: Chrome Molly at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Renton Municipal Arts Commission and Parks and Recreation present arena and pop-metal rock band Chrome Molly at the Kidd Valley Stage. This free show will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 4

Family Fun Entertainment Series: Incredible Idioms with Magician Louie Foxx at Liberty Park. Starting at 12:30 a.m., this family-friendly performance showcases the truth behind idioms, mixed with magic, comedy and off-the-wall skills. This is a free event in partnership with the King County Library System and Renton Parks and Recreation.

Aug. 5

Ed McCaffrey/Gordy Neilson Memorial Golf Tournament at Maplewood Golf Course: The annual charity fundraiser tournament in memory of Ed McCaffery and Gordy Neilson will be on Saturday, August 5, at Maplewood Golf Course. Ed & Gordy were long-time members of the Maplewood Men’s Club. The tournament is held annually in their honor. A fundraiser for Renton’s high school golf teams, the shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. for this golf tournament. After golf, there will be a gathering in the banquet room for lunch, live and silent auctions, and a raffle for great prizes. Four-person scramble entry fee is $600 per team, which includes green fare, a cart, lunch and the Jr. golf donation. Hole sponsorships — with a 30 letters max — are $100. The Renton News & Umpqua Bank presents Fem Allies In Business (F.A.B.) at Umpqua Bank: A professional women’s networking group, this event is held every second Thursday of the month and is a free event that includes light breakfast, tea and coffee, time for mingling and two guest speakers. The event is from 9 to 10 a.m. at 333 Southwest 7th Street in Renton.

Aug. 12

Renton Summerfest at Piazza Park: Running all day from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., this big community event is designed to recognize the dedicated residents of Renton and bring the community together for a day of fun and celebration. There will be arts & crafts, a beer & wine garden, a Hot Wheels collector event, live music starting at 4 p.m. and an outdoor movie at dusk. For more information, visit rentonsummerfest.com.

Renton Downtown Historic Walking Tours: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Historic Walking Tours is back! Join a tour group to visit 10 or more historic buildings and locations throughout downtown Renton. Tickets are $25 and include the tour, a tote bag, a program, tasty treat and a ticket to the Renton History Museum. Tickets can be purchased at rentondowntown.com.

Cruz The Loop at Piazza Park: From 6 to 9 p.m., cars will rev their engines like they did in the past with the return of Cruz the Loop, where the iconic loop will begin with the greenlight from Mayor Pavone. This is a free event for spectators but participants must register at rentonwa.gov/register by Aug. 4, with the code #15581. Aug. 17

Summer Concerts: The Kennydales at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park: Rock out with the yacht rock and 70’s prog-pop group The Kennydales at the Kidd Valley Stage. This free show will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Aug. 18

Clean Comedy Show at The Carco Theatre: Featuring comedian Lee Hardin and David Vox Mullen, this comedy show will being at 7 p.m. at Carco. Tickets start at $24 and can be purchased at carcotheatre.org. The Carco Theatre is located at 1717 Maple Valley Highway in Renton.

Sept. 12

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19: This organization meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 NE 12th St.) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join us, area vets. Meeting dates for 2023 are Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12.

Fridays, Aug. 4 to Aug. 25

SOS/Food Lifeline Free Lunch Pop-Up at Downtown Renton: This weekly event will take be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where unsheltered and Renton residents with food insecurities will be given a free lunch. A partnership between SOS Emergency Feeding Program and Food Lifeline, this event will take place at 126 South Logan Avenue North.

Saturdays, Aug. 5 to Aug. 26

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Tuesdays, Aug. 8 to Sept. 26

Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park: The city farmers market will take July 4 off but will be back in Piazza Park on July 11 and every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26. Along with vendors, the Washington State University’s Master Gardeners will be there each week to answer garden-related questions.

Saturday, Aug. 19 & Wednesday, Sept. 6
