Local shop owner helps students show school spirit

What started out as a part-time gig has turned full time for Rainier Beach resident Henry Beleford.

Beleford is the owner of B’s Athletic Uniforms and Teamwear located in Renton.

He began selling letterman jackets with his two brothers in April 2012. In 2018, Beleford said he retired and began working at B’s Athletic full time.

He also said his brothers no longer work the business with him.

To Beleford, letterman jackets are important because they allow students to “have a sense of pride.” It also allows the students to promote their schools and show school spirit, he added.

There aren’t many store fronts like Beleford’s anymore selling letterman jackets. He said when they first started there were about five others but now he can’t name another one.

He works with not only those from Renton schools but also with students from the Kent School District, Tahoma High School and many other schools in the region.

A lot of Beleford’s customers are return customers who he said feel comfortable working with him. And vice versa, Beleford said he is “really happy with the people he has worked with.”

B’s not only does letterman jackets but they also produce rec league uniforms for basketball, baseball teams as well as T-shirts for clubs, families, etc.

B’s Athletic is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beleford suggested customers call ahead of time to make an appointment.

B’s is located at 1123 Maple Ave. SW, Suite 140 in Renton.
