Carelessness increases chances for fire damage

Now that school is out and the kids will be using the streets and alleys more, and throwing their cigarettes here and there, we need to be more concerned about fire hazards.

Now that school is out and the kids will be using the streets and alleys more, and throwing their cigarettes here and there, we need to be more concerned about fire hazards.

There are several homes in the area with very tall grass and brush in the yards. Having a fence doesn’t keep people from throwing a lit cigarette over the fence. I pick them up all the time and I have a fence also. Some of the neighbors are very concerned because it endangers our property. Fire travels fast.

Some people have blackberry vines and heavy vines hanging from their fences, which makes it nearly impossible to drive in the alley because it scratches our cars.

When we own or rent a home, it is our responsibility to keep it up so it doesn’t endanger other people’s property.

We are taking the addresses of the problem areas and turning them in to code compliance. We take pride in our neighborhood and try to keep it safe.
