A ‘yes’ vote for I-985

Array

The Monday City Council meeting Oct. 6 had a public meeting but they forgot to tell the citizens. The citizens receive a utility bill with the Renton City News which has everything but the public meeting on Initiative 985. The council members seemed to be uninformed about Initiative 985, thinking if it is passed, the City of Renton can’t have red light/speed cameras. The initiative does not say anything about Renton not having these cameras. Tim Eyman spoke on the Initiative 985 and was very clear on what to expect when it passes. The cameras in Renton started as a safety issue but look like a revenue issue. The council seemed to have their own agenda. See the Renton web page for the Oct. 6 video.

One of the issues is to open up the HOV lanes during non-peak hours. The state will fight this to the end. The state has the pilot program on State Route 167 called HOT lanes and once the HOV lanes are completed throughout the state, those lanes will be HOT lanes, watch and see.

I will be voting yes.
